◆On the Keyboard：リレーエッセー
３カ月ごとに筆者が変わるリレーエッセーです。４月からの担当は、米モンタナ州出身の猿渡（さるわたし）シャノンさん。各地の学校で外国語指導助手（ALT）をしたのち、現在は長崎市の長崎純心大学で英語を教えています。


◆シミケンの知って得する語源のはなし
KEN’S ENGLISH INSTITUTE 代表の清水建二さんによる語源に関するシリーズです。
英語が歩んできた歴史に沿って、それぞれの時代に生まれたり英語に採り入れられたりした言葉の語源を探りながら、身近な英単語の成り立ちを解説します。知らない英単語でも意味を推測できるようになり、語彙の増強にも役立ちます。


◆Phrase It Right 句動詞で話そう　色とりどりの英語表現
教科書では学ぶ機会の少ない英語らしい慣用表現やイディオムを、クイズ形式で出題します。例文を使った穴埋め問題を毎回６題用意し、それぞれにイラストを付けて視覚的に記憶に残るように工夫してあります。正解に加えて解説欄を設け、取り上げたキーフレーズ以外の英文の意味や用法も説明します。こうした慣用表現は会話をスムーズにするだけでなく、映画やドラマを理解するために不可欠です。日本語の発想とは異なる粋な言い回しを数多く取り上げていきます。英語の総合力のさらなるパワーアップにご活用ください。
